He was born October 14, 1948, in Marion, IN, the son of the late Wilbur Dale & Teletha Bell Downs. Dennis was a 1965 graduate of Oak Hill High School. He attended Indiana University at Kokomo and Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He worked for a time at Honeywell, but then returned to farming with his dad and brothers.
